Graphite electrode news: exports continue to run low in August 2020
In August 2020, the price of China's graphite electrode market will continue to be low and stable. UHP700mm has relatively high profits and exports have recently been blocked. Driven by the low price of individual manufacturers in the early stage, the price has risen. The current mainstream price is 22000-24000 Yuan/ton, the extreme lowest price is 20,000 yuan/ton, down about 2,000 yuan/ton from last week. Other specifications are relatively stable.
In terms of exports: the total export volume of graphite electrodes from January to July 2020 was 158,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 24.4%. Recently, it has been learned from some Chinese graphite electrode factories that foreign orders have not recovered significantly from August to September. Only Russia and Japan have relatively some exports, but compared with the same period last year, they are much less. The markets of Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia were relatively active in August, but the total quantity was not large. Therefore, it will take time for foreign orders to resume.
Raw materials: The market price of raw materials rose in August. Due to the increase in demand for aluminum, the shipment volume improved. Now Fushun Petrochemical 1#A petroleum coke is quoted at 1,600 yuan/ton, an increase of 150 yuan/ton from the previous month, low-sulfur calcined coke The quotation is 2800-2950 yuan/ton, up 150-300 yuan/ton. The market price of needle coke is temporarily stable, and the mainstream quotations of coal-based and oil-based products are now at 4500-6000 yuan/ton.
Steel mills: Steel prices mainly rose slightly, and merchants continued to focus on digesting inventories. In a few markets in East China, due to significant inventory declines, merchants are willing to reluctantly sell, and steel prices are expected to be stable and strong in the short term. Scrap steel also mainly rose slightly. Some independent electric furnace steel mills in Jiangsu returned to full production. The overall arrival volume of steel mills continued to decline, and the fundamentals of scrap steel remained strong. It is expected that the short-term scrap market will fluctuate strongly. According to the calculation of the independent electric arc furnace (all scrap) in East China, the total cost of rebar (weighing, flat electricity) is 3,711 yuan/ton, down 40 yuan/ton from last week. The profit difference between electric furnace steel and converter steel is 70 yuan/ton (rebar).
