1. Is graphite A electrode?
Graphite is a crystalline form of the element carbon with its atoms arranged in a hexagonal structure. It occurs naturally in this form and is the most stable form of carbon under standard conditions. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity. Its high conductivity makes it useful in electronic products such as electrodes, batteries, and solar panels. Due to that feature,after graphitization process, the electrode, which is made of needle coke or petroleum coke and coal tar pitch, would become graphite electrode.

Graphite electrodes are used primarily in Electric Arc Furnace or Ladle Furnace steel manufacturing. Graphite electrodes can provide high levels of electrical conductivity and capability of sustaining the extremely high levels of generated heat. Graphite electrodes are also used in the refinement of steel and similar smelting processes.
