Difference between graphite electrode rp vs hp
The difference between RP graphite electrode and HP graphite electrode is that the different raw materials used lead to different physical and chemical indexes of the products produced. RP is used for ordinary power electric arc furnace (melting power is 300KV.A/t), and HP is used for high power. Electric arc furnace (melting power is 400KV.A/t).

Graphite electrode

Graphite electrode uses petroleum coke (RP raw material is ordinary petroleum coke, HP raw material is high-quality petroleum coke), coal pitch and needle coke are raw materials, and the products produced are divided into 3 categories according to physical and chemical indicators: RP ordinary power graphite electrode, HP high power Graphite electrodes and UHP ultra-high power graphite electrodes. The graphite electrode is composed of a body and a joint. The production cycle of the general product is 60 days. Because the joint plays a role of connection and requires higher quality, the production cycle will be longer.

Regular Power graphite electrode RP

Using ordinary grade petroleum coke, the graphitization temperature is low, the graphite electrode produced has high resistivity, large linear expansion coefficient, and poor thermal shock resistance, so the allowable current density is low. Suitable for crude steel smelting.

High-power graphite electrode HP

Using high-quality petroleum coke, plus needle coke as raw material, impregnation, high graphitization temperature, low resistivity, low linear expansion coefficient, and strong mechanical properties. Therefore, a higher current density is allowed to pass. Suitable for refined steel. Steelmaking with high-power graphite electrodes can shorten the smelting time, improve production efficiency, and reduce power usage and graphite electrode consumption. .
Electric arc furnaces are divided into three types according to their power: ordinary electric arc furnaces (smelting scrap steel power 300kv.A/t), high-power electric arc furnaces (smelting scrap steel power 400kv.A/t) and ultra-high power electric arc furnaces (smelting scrap steel power is 500kv. Above A/t)
Commonly used graphite electrodes are between 200~700mm in diameter, ordinary electric arc furnaces choose RP graphite electrodes with diameters of 200~500mm, high power electric arc furnaces choose HP graphite electrodes with a diameter greater than 300mm, and ultra-high power electric arc furnaces choose UHP graphite electrodes with a diameter greater than 400mm.
