EAF electrodes are used in electric arc furnace steelmaking,  The electric arc generated by the discharge between the graphite electrode and the metal charge is used to heat and  melt the charge.

Graphite electrode is a kind of conductive material to reduce the cost of steelmaking. Because graphite can withstand high temperature of 3900°C, it is suitable for use in electric arc furnace (the temperature in electric arc furnace is above 3000°C).

A 70-ton electric furnace with a power of 50MVA transformer uses graphite electrode UHP 500mm. With the transformer capacity adjusted to 56MVA, the graphite electrode used is also adjusted to UHP 550mm. And 120T furnace in 100MVA < transformer power < 150MVA, the most economical is UHP 650mm graphite electrode. 130-150T furnace, power > 150MVA transformer, its use of graphite electric extremely UHP 700mm.
